Summary

The volume of tephra is calculated as freshly fallen. This eruption was silicic, although there are no known deposits outside of Iceland. This eruption was the second largest in historic times and the initial phase was very violent and explosive. Tephra was carried to the north and caused severe damage, with famine in the following winter. The eruption lasted for about 12 months
