Summary

The volume of tephra is calculated as freshly fallen. This eruption was silicic, although there are no known deposits outside of Iceland. This eruption lasted for at least 6 months. The initial phase was probably similar to the 1947 eruption and tephra was carried to the south-east. Later activity lead to tephra fall in the north and east of Iceland.
