Summary

This was the second eruption of Hekla in historical times and the first to produce lava. The tephra layer produced by this eruption has only recently been identified and had a north-east trending axis. The volume of tephra is calculated as freshly fallen. The geochemical composition of this tephra varies significantly from Hekla 1104 with SiO2 of between about 67-68%.
