Summary

The eruption of 1947 was similiar, if slightly smaller to the eruption of 1510, occurred after a very long repose period of 102 years. Tephra from this eruption famously fell over the Aland archipelago in the Baltic and in Finland. It was also noted falling on ships to the south of Iceland, but does not appear to have fallen on the British Isles, Norway or Sweden. The volume of tephra is shown as freshly fallen.
